Homework - Compare Good and Bad Business Sites

A very good site to navigate through.
There are at least three ways to search for a particular item: category, keyword and/or catalog item number.
As you shop on the site it will keep a log of your purchases and then ask you for your information until you are finally ready to check out.
It does ask you for to create an online account though.
After you fill in your personal information they ask you where you want the items delivered if different from the billing address.
It also asks if you wish to have it giftwrapped and gives you a selection of occasion and paper display.
After everything is filled out correctly JCPenney immediately sends an email confirmation.
I noticed that the site has an awesome arrangement of menu pages and clone pages especially in the Customer Service area.
Secured sites are very nicely done and almost seamless.
I have personally use this site many times and never had a problem, I like having the opportunity to track my order and they have a UPS link in the Order Status page.

This is a good site to navigate through, which you can find something you need several different ways.
I have personally pinged this site over the last six years and it has made a lot of improvements.
The site is updated frequently and there is always something new.
When you shop and order items the site is definitely secure.
After final checkout a confirmation email is sent to you immediately.
Afterwards they send you an email stating that the order has been sent out.
What I found interesting is that there is shipping information in the Help area with a map stating how many days shipping time will take.
This site is mainly designed for the avid sewer in which the customer knows what she wants and knows what the item looks like.
There is an extra mouse click you have to do to see the picture and descriptions of the item however older computers can handle this site smoothly, especially when only one picture needs to load up because that is all you want or need to see.

I like the company but this web site needs bigtime altering.
The main page is cluttered with words and links inside paragraphs.
The fonts and their sizes are inconsistent.
If you click on the marquee it links you to the Site Map.
As a matter of fact the when you first access the page an ALT tag taunts you and boasts about the Site Map page, I think boasting about the item(s) that are carried by this merchant would be more catchy.
The pages have frames, not good, especially when the frame size is incorrectly set, I had to do a horizontal scroll.
The item list is nicely done where you can find a particular item easily but the displaying of each item are stretched across the page and the prices/quantities are in columns, not rows.
There is a useless page called Recent Revisions which lists what and when was updated.
WHO GIVES A HOOT ABOUT THAT? Blab about the new item additions on the main page.
And last but not least, they do say they have secured pages however when I made an order I got no email, no confirmation whatsoever and no "Thank you for ordering."
I had to call the company the next day to ask what happened with the order.

Affordable Computer Supply Marketplace

This site looks like it was done by an amateur.
When you open the home page all the text is centered and is displayed in various sizes.
The hyperlinks are orange, not blue and the phrase "CLICK HERE" is constantly used.
The Shopping Cart instructions are linked from the main page and not from the shopping cart itself, (I did not see it!).
When you browse the shopping area the text is centered, italicized and blue, but non-clickable.
The item descriptions are nebulous and there are no pictures of the items.
Overall navigation of the site is poor and there is a lot of hoop jumping.
When I first saw this site I was not impressed and clicked out.
